Born Pedro José Calvo on March 4, 1979, in Havana, Cuba, Pedrito Calvo Jr. was immersed in a rich musical environment from an early age. As the son of Pedrito Calvo, one of Los Van Van’s most charismatic singers, it was natural for him to follow in his father’s footsteps. He began formal music training at 14 at the Escuela Elemental Guillermo Tomás de Guanabacoa, initially focusing on guitar before transitioning to voice. Over the years, Pedrito has collaborated with various groups, including LM Sobredosis, La Farandula, La Charanga Forever, and his father’s band, Pedrito Calvo y La Justicia. In 2009, after a 13-year career sharing the stage with luminaries such as Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo, Pío Leyva, Los Van Van, Amadito Valdés, and Barbarito Torres, Pedrito embarked on a solo career, showcasing his unique blend of salsa, timba, and other Cuban genres.
